Week 6 Update: Finished Products, Smiles, Fun, and More Thanks!

In spite of some internet difficulties this week, (hence the lack of Facebook and Blog posts), (almost) everyone has completed their animal research projects and I couldn't be more proud. Research ranged from Boston Terriers, to Chausie cats, to African elephants and Ocelots. This wide array of animals, wild and domesticated, speaks to the interest and love of animals that the students have. Some printed out pictures, others drew or traced them, and all put a lot of thought into the way their projects were designed, worded, and put together. I think each of the students deserves a fantastic round of applause for their tremendous effort. Pictures will be coming! My cell phone (where the pictures are located) is currently out of commission, but should be up and operating at some point over the weekend.

Moving forward, we will be focusing on some of our fundraising efforts and our public service announcement projects to promote adoption. Also, this week one of our friends from Purrfect Tales forwarded an AWESOME poetry contest from American Pet Products Association  called "Pets Add Life" for students in grades 3 through 8. Students from all across the nation are invited to "write a unique poem about their pets, what they love about them, and the joys they bring into their lives." If selected, one student from each of the grades will win "a $250 gift certificate for pet products, and a byline in a nationally circulated publication or online outlet. In addition, the six winning students' classrooms will each win a $1,000 scholarship to spend on pet-related education (A.K.A. Project R.E.A.C.H.! :) or to support a classroom pet. How cool would that be?

Although not every R.E.A.C.H.er will be able to participate (as we range from 7-12), there will be 7 students who are eligible!! :) How exciting! We definitely have some talented writers, so I am excited to see what they come up with. Even if someone doesn't win, what a WONDERFUL way to express the joys of having animals in our lives! Thank you so much, Ms. Carolina for thinking of us!! <3

If you ever come across any project, initiative, or that you think we could get involved in, please feel free to e-mail me or message us on our Facebook page!!! :)
